Radioisotope fume hoods are generally designed to guard users from radioactive materials. Radioactive isotope is any of the several species of the identical element with different masses whose nuclei are unstable and it'll dissipate the surplus energy by emitting radiation such as alpha, gamma and beta rays. So, when the working persons inhale the radio isotopes, it'll get into different organs and can cause several effects which can may result in death.
Radioisotope fume hoods are specifically designed for people handling radioactive materials. This fume hood is created with stainless-steel internal surfaces with coved seamless welded corners to forestall material build-up and also to stop contamination. To withstand the burden of lead shielding plates and lead laced sashes, specially constructed worktops are provided. These fume hoods will also provide containment performance kind of like that of high-performance low velocity fume hoods. It should be ensuring to produce maximum safety during working with radiopharmaceuticals and other radioactive materials
This hood is created from double wall construction for greater strength and robustness. The superstructure of radioisotope hoods is usually made stronger than that of conventional hoods so as to support lead bricks and other shieling required within the hood. Interior stainless steel work surface should be water tight and reinforced to ensure the support up to 200 lbs per square foot.
